Board Meeting Minutes
Oakwood Park Board Meeting
August 31, 2023
The Board meeting was called to order by President Brandon Miller. Present were Phil Carper, Fritzi Nodine, Steve Myers and Steven David
Status of Lawyer: Brandon did finally here from the lawyer on one of our issues in July. There is nothing in the rules that contradict the by laws with regard to late fees or leans. Dana Magnesun, from Chrystal Bay/Cove will help Steve put together a letter and show him how to place a lean on properties that do not pay dues. A late fee can be attached to the lean. There was discussion about one of our older members who has not payed dues and to talk with them as they possibly forgot. The Board did vote to start the search for a new lawyer as Mr. Cress was not responding in a timely manner or answering the questions we were asking. Fritzi did ask if some of our board knew other lawyers for some of the other Lake associations and were pleased with their services. Fritzi did ask if possibly the Board would send a letter to Greg Mekus about his pier and boat lift to remind him he ignored the letters and the pier would be removed next spring if it went back in.
Status of Road: Brandon reported a quote of 3700.00 to repair the drainage situation on 150E which had recently been washed out after 2 heavy summer rains. These rains washed out all the new gravel that was placed on the road. This repair would also include slag to run to the bottom of the road. Fritzi suggested we see if we can have the association members pitch in and the association pay a portion as well for the 3700.00 total. Brandon and Steve felt we had enough in the treasure to pay 1500.00. Fritzi will contact Wallace’s, Schettgoecke’s and Snyders to see if, including herself, they would each give 600.00 towards the project as they utilize the road the most. Brandon will then schedule the project to see if we could complete by fall. The board is hoping that the project will spark interest in doing all roads over the next couple years with in the association with slag. Both Brandon and Phil have completed drive ways recently with slag and are pleased with the results.
Fritzi did discuss with the group putting a redi-rock retaining wall along her property on the easement between herself and the Wallaces. It would actually make the easement a little wider as the area on her property (including rock, gravel and dirt) continues to fall into the easement. With there being no objections she stated that the wall would be completed in November.
The Board discussed rental property and the importance of letting renters who were not on the lake know that they could not put in piers or moor boats in the easements.
It was decided to possibly have a picnic, chili and hot dogs on Sept 30 from 11a to 1pm. This would give Brandon a chance to discuss the roads with interested members of the Oakwood Park Association. With no further business, Brandon adjourned the meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Fritzi Nodine, Secretary.
